If any of you reading this happen to already know me in some capacity, you know that I have entirely too many thoughts in my head that are about comic books (to the people reading this who are facebook friends with me, I am soooo sorry). As I am attempting to make sense of my life and channel more of my energies into becoming a professional writer, I thought that a blog would be a good platform for that.
Some potentially interesting facts about me that will help you determine whether or not you might want to read this blog:
-I am female.
-I enjoy both DC and Marvel characters and publications.
-I read a not small number of indie comics, some of which I will probably post about at length
-I love comic book conventions, and have even cosplayed once or twice
-Spiderman was my first Marvel character, and animated-series Batman was my first DC character
-I'm slightly obsessed with Robin, Batman's partner in crime.
-Which Robin you ask? All of them.
-For monetary reasons, I read comic books mostly as graphic novels and not as singles issues, though I do have a number of books I buy on a monthly basis.
-Tony Stark is my favorite Marvel character, but Iron Man is my least favorite Avenger at least half the time.
-One time, my best friend and I had an entire three and a half hour conversation about inkers and their inking styles.
-I have a thing for seeing super powered characters using their powers for ordinary everyday tasks (like when Superman made hot cocoa for Nightwing using his laser vision.)
-I use my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 to read comic books at least once a day, and Comixology has a not-insignificant claim on my financial resources.
-Among my least popular comics related opinions: I thought Shayera was an essential component of the Justice League animated series, Jon Stewart continues to be my favorite Green Lantern, Jason Todd is sometimes my favorite Batfamily member, I frequently do not like 616-continuity Captain America, I really enjoyed the vast majority of the Marvel Civil War arc, I've always loved Stephanie Brown, I adore teenage superhero team books, and I have never to date enjoyed reading anything written by Frank Miller.
-I once accidentally met Stan Lee when I was waiting in line for a drinking fountain at NYCC.
-I'm not physically capable of speech in the presence of Gail Simone. This theory was tested with science on three separate occasions, and she's just too fabulous for my fangirl brain to put words together properly.
Hopefully that wasn't too boring! :)
